Crafty Wall Decor for Christmas

I saw an example in a Gooseberry Patch 2008 Christmas book of this wall hanging.

I loved the colors and tried to make my own. Under the Gooseberry Patch example were the letters that spelled WISH. I could not tell how the ornaments were suspended on the wall, I know they used ribbon. I wanted it to looked finished, so I used a thin piece of poplar from Lowe’s and painted it with the ivory color I paint every thing with.

I had some of the ornaments and bought the blue stars and ribbon. We (the family) really like it.

Yummy Cookies

Bisquick Molasses Cookies

½ cup butter or margarine, softened

¾ cup packed brown sugar

1 egg

¼ cup molasses

2 1/3 cups Heart Smart Bisquick

½  teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ teaspoon ground cloves

 

Beat butter and brown sugar together. Beat in egg. Add molasses. Mix well.

Add cinnamon and cloves. Mix well. Add Heart Smart Bisquick. Mix well. Scrap down sides.

Chill about 30 min.

 

Shape into 1 ½ inch balls. Roll in pan of sugar. Place on nonstick cookie sheet about two inches apart. Press down with the flat bottom of a glass that has been dipped in sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for about 8 minutes. I like them soft, the kids like them crispy, so I cook theirs just a bit longer.

Yes and No

We got word that we will that the sewer will be fixed via a city grant.

The plumbing company came out and cleared the line so that we can flush the toilets and wash clothes, YEA! The company has to pull permits, and then they will begin the big work.

We were not approved for the low interest loan for major fixing of home problems. The city is out of money. We are on the top of the waiting list for next June.

Keeping my chin up. It could always be worse.

 

Need More

I know we are silly parents.

But we were so excited when we woke up this morning and found a note from our son. He is a young adult with autism and communication can be very difficult for him.

So the note, the actions he took to find a pen and leave us money – communicating with us – we got excited.

What a week

The sewer backed up.

I have been dealing with getting estimates to get it fixed. It backed up because the lateral sewer line has broken. We have old orange-burg clay pipes.

I had a hard time getting company’s to follow through on giving us estimates. I have had a hard time getting companies to return my calls. The city has been involved too. They have been excellent. They arrive on time and have been very helpful.

We rent from family. The family member who own the home, has a home on the land also. The electricity, water, sewer, Internet, and cable are all on the same line. No separate bills. Only the house phones are wired separate.

The family member is retired and it turns out they maybe able to get a special low interest loan through the city, with the home as collateral  to get not only the sewer fixed, but needed repairs in both homes!

The general contractor is coming out special for us tomorrow to look at out list and give estimates. It goes before “committee” on Wednesday.

I am sure praying this all goes through!
