Snow-Topped Chocolate Mint Cookies

Our family volunteered for several summers, taking in Japanese students from a student exchange program. Our older daughters were taking Japanese language classes at college during this time.

This is a family favorite cookie recipe from 2008 translated from Japanese.

Christmas Eve and off to Utah

We had a special time – Christmas Eve, savory every moment together. I left early Christmas morning. I called home several times from the airport. Every one is glad that my Mom, their Grandma, was getting out of the hospital!

Christmas is almost here.

The food is ready.

Grab your plates.

After dinner I read the pages of What God

Wants for Christmas and we passed around

the box.

After a fun dinner time we went to the living room to

open gifts.

We had a very special Christmas Eve. When

I get back to California I am going to ask the

kids and husband if we can do this again next year,

dinner and open gifts on Christmas Eve.

I had already printed my boarding pass and had

my bag packed for several days, not knowing when

I would need to go. We all stayed up a little t0o late,

but I fell right to sleep. Good thing I set the alarm.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered.  This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria.  So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.
Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David,  to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child.  So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered.  And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Luke 2:1-7

Cream Cheese Mints for Christmas

I have made these candies every Christmas for about 22 years. My family loves them and they are easy to make. I use a little cutter that has 4 shapes on it. I also have some candy molds I use. We were able to get a lot done while watching Pride and Prejudice. Click on recipe to enlarge.

Christmas Advent – What God Wants for Christmas

We are a few days into our Christmas Advent. I have a 12 day candy Christmas Advent that has been going on. Then we added the 7 day Bible Story of Jesus’ birth. It is from Family Life Publishers 2005. It is no longer published I was sad to find out. I scanned the pages of the booklet and took photos of the figures in the box and put them on photo bucket. Here is the link. I made a little video too,  here is that link.

During dinner, I read the story and I or one of the kids open the box. It depends on if they kids are too busy eating. Then I pour out the candy in the center of the table and everyone gets two pieces of candy.

Craft Patterns Better Homes and Garden 2007 Christmas

I saved this photo from Pinterest because I planned on making these little felt skates and gifts/ornaments. I started to make them and have not been thrilled with my own skate pattern.

Today I was taking down the Thanksgiving decor and getting it all put away when I spied a stack of magazine. They were craft magazines!

And what should I see on those pages?  The very skates I saw on Pinterest and have been trying to make! I Scanned the page for all to enjoy. (Right click each scanned page to save.)
