20 + Years

Life after Homeschooling

For over 20 years (5 children) at this time of the year I would be making lessons plans, gathering unit study supplies and making books lists in preparation for the new school year.
Not this year. This year I am under the shady tree with a cold drink and a stack of my favorite magazines.

Learning Handwriting Font

This is a font called National First Font Dotted by Roger White. It is Freeware

I used it for many years when helping the children learn to write. I would make my own handwriting work sheets. You can download it here.

Painting the Wood Floor

It took several weeks, but we are almost done. Alex did a lot of the work for me. Can’t wait to decorate for Christmas.

Beautiful Art

My friend Katie just began her ebay business. She is selling her paintings! They are just beautiful.

Here is a little about Katie –

My name is Katie and I’m 21 yrs old and a graduate from the class of “2007.” I was brought in to this world on March,22,1989. I am the oldest of four and have 2 sister and 1 brother. I started taking art class my Jr year of high school and I have done art for 6 years now.

I was born with a genetic condition called Incontinentia Pigmenti. This condition effected my brain development in utero. I was born with a seizure disorder and lived with uncontrollable seizures for the first 11 years of my life. Finally my Seizure Specialist decided to do surgery to remove a fourth of my brain. IT WORKED! I have been seizure free for the last 10 years (Praise The Lord!)

My education has always been with the severe special ed classes, due to my processing disability, and I have learned to be a mentor to my classmates. Art is the way I express myself and feel confident to live in such a confusing world. I hope you enjoy my work and are blessed with the special gifts God give us. Katie

I Love Books

I went through my book shelves today. I have a pile of old books to sell at my next garage sale.

A few days a go I went to the Christan book store. I found several books I would like to own.  *sigh*.

Yesterday I spent the day at Barnes and Nobles with the kids while I waited for my college kids to get out of their classes. My friend stopped by to visit with her kids. She saw my small stack of books I was quickly reading. We talked about which ones were good and which ones were really good.

I had planned for the garage sale money to go towards buying needed items for the children*. But maybe, if I do well, I could take $20.00 and buy a book…

*Our 4 out of 5 of the kids are mildly handicapped and require  a good deal of support still in their daily living. 3 are over 18, and slowly progressing and we hope one day will be able to live in their own homes/apartments.
